Leading the Mechanical Engineering of the #1 FSAE team in the USA

2023

As the VP of Structures for our 2023 vehicle, I was tasked with leading the mechanical design of CMR’s 8th electric vehicle. As such, I set 3 primary performance goals for the team:

  1. Keep vehicle mass under 500 pounds
  2. Acceleration Event Time of under 4 seconds
  3. Complete 100km of track testing before our first competition

The rationale behind each of these goals was to push the team in a technically challenging manner. In addition, they are designed to ensure reliability and competitiveness in competition, something which we have struggled with in the past. I am proud to say that all 3 goals have been accomplished, as we weighed in at 481 pounds being the lightest vehicle in CMR history, achieved an acceleration event time of 3.6 seconds at the 2023 Formula Hybrid Competition, and completed over 200km of track testing before our first competition in May of 2023!
